A 4-Year-Old’s Headstone Had To Be Removed Because of ONE PERSON

Of course, the council is playing some damage control here, so they are now saying that if they had received the application with the specific description of the headstone design within the appropriate time frame, they would have rejected it anyway. They also said that the headstone should have been installed in the children’s area of the cemetery instead of by the adults, and that would have been permitted.
“We have to conform to the shapes of the headstones in our cemetery,” a spokesperson for the Malvern City Council said. “People contacted us and objected to the shape. The longer that shape stayed up, the more difficult it would have been to remove it. It wasn’t an easy decision to remove it, but it had to be done.” Well, I call Baloney, but whatever.
“This isn’t necessarily an objection to the shape,” the spokesperson continued. “It was more that we have to apply the same rules for each and every family. We cannot play favorites here. Simply by not following the correct process, it has caused a lot of grief for both of these families.” Oh brother.
Of course, the council in control of this cemetery is still trying to damage control, so they are arranging a meeting with this grieving mother to find a more suitable example for her son’s headstone.
Where do YOU stand on this? Do you agree with the stance of the cemetery and the other family, or do you think that is simply micromanaging RUN AMOK? We would love to hear your comments on this!
