A 44-year-old woman was rescued by bystanders who lifted a Volkswagen Beetle after she crashed her e-bike and became pinned beneath the car in Prospect Park, Pennsylvania.
‘Help!’ — then a rush to lift a car
According to ABC 7, the crash happened Monday. Neighbors and workers responded to the woman’s screams. “Once I heard her scream, ‘Help,’ I just ran outside and tried to lift up the car by myself, and then other neighbors came out,” said neighbor Amelia Cannon.
Christine Vollmer, who said she called 911, recalled: “All I saw were the lady’s legs from underneath the car.”

Video from the Prospect Park Police Department shows multiple people working together to free the rider, as reported by Fox. The woman was hospitalized with chest injuries and was in stable condition following treatment, Fox reported.
FedEx driver Karl Wise described the moment the group acted: they “picked up the Volkswagen Beetle on its side and drug the woman out, and I told her, ‘Don’t move.’”
Chief praises bystanders, questions e‑bike rules
Prospect Park Police Chief Dave Madonna commended the crowd’s quick action: “No special equipment, no training, they just come over and use brute force to lift the vehicle off of the victim.” He also criticized what he described as a lack of e-bike safety regulations in Pennsylvania, asking, “How many more tragedies do we have to see before some type of action is taken?”
