12-Year-Old Tampa Girl Arrested After Selling Stun Guns To Her Classmates

A 12-year-old girl in Tampa, Florida is finding herself in a bit of hot water because she allegedly brought stun guns to her middle school and was selling them to her classmates. Police arrested the girl last Friday after school administrators caught her with the weapons, according to a release by the Tampa Police Department. Local press outlets decided not to release her name because of her age.

According to a resource officer at Coleman Middle School, they pulled the girl out of class because other students reported that they had seen her with the stun guns. She reportedly had purchased the stun guns online before bringing them to her school in order to sell them to some of the other students.

After being interviewed by the police, the girl claimed that she had sold three Vipertek stun guns just the day before and she still had two of the stun guns in her possession as of last Friday. These devices are commonly sold on YouTube with a starting price of $9.99.

The police performed a thorough investigation and ultimately charged the girl with possession of a weapon on school property. They escorted her to a local juvenile correctional facility.

Police and school staff were working together to locate the three guns that the juvenile sold. Police alerted the student body that they were looking for the guns and to turn them in if they knew their whereabouts. “The juvenile didn’t make any threats to the school or to any individuals,” police noted in the news release.

Vipertek is the manufacturer of the stun gun, and they said that this product is designed to “provide military strength protection.”

“This gun is rechargeable, and it has always been designed to meet the unique needs of police, security, and military professionals throughout the world,” a Vipertek spokesperson added. “However, we also take pride in meeting the needs of civilians who want a serious product to provide for their security and safety.”

Of course, Vipertek also played a little bit of damage control, adding that their consumers must be 18 or older if they wish to purchase their product.
