FBI Director Christopher Wray echoed statements made by MSNBC’s Joy Reid and raised doubts about the details of former President Donald Trump’s injury during a shooting incident at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Wray disclosed that there was uncertainty regarding whether Trump was directly shot or hit by shrapnel when the gunman fired.

The FBI has been actively investigating the assassination attempt that led to the death of one rally attendee and left two others seriously injured.

This investigation took place before the Secret Service fatally shot the 20-year-old assailant, Thomas Matthew Crooks.

After the attempt on his life, Trump took to his Truth Social platform with a bloody ear, recounting the harrowing experience of being “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.”

He vividly described the intense moment, recalling hearing “a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.”

A week later, the Trump campaign released a doctor’s note from former White House physician and Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson, confirming that Trump had indeed sustained a gunshot wound to the right ear.

The note reassured that Trump was “doing well and recovering as expected,” narrowly avoiding a more severe injury.

However, during his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, Wray claims that it remains unclear whether Trump’s injury was caused by a bullet or shrapnel.

When questioned by California Rep. Kevin Kiley about the proximity of the assailant’s shot to Trump, Wray disclosed that “either a bullet or a piece of shrapnel is what grazed [Trump’s] ear.”
