Pennsylvania Unleashes Universal Voter Registration Ahead of 2024 Election

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Pennsylvania Democrats announced on Tuesday a new universal voter registration system, automatically registering all residents with a state ID or driver’s license to vote, regardless of their individual intent.

This initiative, which requires registrants to be Pennsylvania residents for at least 30 days in addition to being U.S. citizens, comes as the state gears up for the crucial 2024 election, sparking both applause and fiery concerns from various quarters.

Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Democrat and staunch supporter of President Joe Biden, took pride in announcing the contentious move.

“Automatic voter registration is a common-sense step to ensure election security and save Pennsylvanians time and tax dollars,” Shapiro claimed in a statement. “This is a key step to make our elections more secure, adding important levels of verification to the voter registration process.”

He further defended the initiative, claiming that “by expanding voter registration at our DMVs, we’ll save taxpayers time and money, reduce the number of costly paper registrations, and streamline voter registration for Pennsylvania.”

The move was met with joy by prominent Democrats, especially as Biden faces a challenging re-election bid amidst legal troubles and a looming impeachment inquiry led by House Republicans. Former President Barack Obama lauded the decision, tweeting, “Great news.”

However, not everyone was thrilled with the new strategic move. Former Trump adviser and America First Legal founder Stephen Miller warned, “And, I can promise you, there will be no citizenship verification.”

Conservative podcast host Jack Posobiec questioned, “Are you paying attention yet,” while political commentator Mike Cernovich exclaimed, “The steal is back.” Elijah Schaffer, a journalist at the Gateway Pundit, added his perspective, saying, “Rigging an election, but on steroids. What do you call that again?”
