Former U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., has made a stark allegation against the Trump administration, claiming officials are discussing the possible use of nuclear weapons against Iran.
According to LifeSiteNews, Greene posted Sunday on X: “They are discussing using nuclear weapons on Iran in strategy meetings. Yes you read that correctly. It’s real. I’m not speculating, I know. And it’s pure evil.”
The source report did not provide independent confirmation of Greene’s claim or a response from the White House.
A war dividing Trump’s coalition
LifeSiteNews reported that the allegation comes amid continuing U.S. military action against Iran. The report states that after limited airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in summer 2025, President Donald Trump launched broader attacks beginning February 28, with the operation continuing intermittently since then.
The report also states that a ceasefire effort led by Vice President JD Vance in April failed.
Trump has publicly claimed that his administration has “totally” decimated Iran’s conventional military capacity and ended the threat of its nuclear ambitions, according to the source. But the report says Iran’s remaining forces have continued to restrict oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
LifeSiteNews reported that daily vessel crossings through the waterway fell from more than 100 before the war to 14 as of August 11.
Greene’s shift away from Trump
Greene, once one of Trump’s most visible congressional allies, resigned last year after breaking with him on several issues, according to the report. Those included his 2025 Iran strikes and the administration’s handling of files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
She has described her break as a defense of the “populist” values of the original MAGA movement. Critics, according to LifeSiteNews, have accused her of turning against Trump because he did not support a potential Georgia governor bid, which Greene has denied.
The report says Greene is now aligned with the non-interventionist wing of the MAGA coalition, a faction skeptical of foreign military entanglements. It also notes that she recently attended a meeting with Tucker Carlson, outgoing Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and others about forming a third party focused on foreign policy.
Polls show a complicated picture
Public opinion on the conflict appears divided depending on the question asked. LifeSiteNews cited a RealClearPolitics polling average showing 61.3 percent disapproval and 35.9 percent approval of the Iran War among the general public.
At the same time, the report said other polling found 89 percent of self-identified MAGA supporters approve of the strikes.
The article also cited Gallup polling from earlier this year showing 80 percent of voters consider preventing the spread of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction a “very important” goal.
