We all know this year’s election will be unlike any we’ve seen. An aging Democrat with possible cognitive decline is fighting off a former president—who has been indicted by his political rivals.
Even odder is the fact that only two presidential debates are scheduled. They are not being organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
CNN had the honor of hosting the first debate. But it’s clear that the network was gaming the system to benefit its agenda. Even media networks were outraged over how CNN was controlling the event. Not even top journalists were allowed in the building.

From Yahoo Finance:
The rival networks must refer to the event as the “CNN Presidential Debate.” All promotions, advertisements and TV listings must refer to it as the “CNN Presidential Debate Simulcast.”…The White House Correspondents’ Association wrote to CNN on Tuesday requesting that the network allow their representatives to sit in the studio during the debate, a request the network denied, according to a person familiar with the letter and response. CNN cited security and space concerns.
Security and space concerns? Non-CNN reporters were barred from the event for what appeared to be flimsy reasons. CNN didn’t want other networks taking credit for the first debate; it forced them to show its logo, even though they were airing the footage on their station.
But that’s only the tip of the iceberg of CNN’s meddling. There was no live audience, the debaters had their mics muted, and many just assumed CNN provided Joe Biden with his questions beforehand (which has become common for interviews with this ailing president).
Iconic TV star and advocate for hard work, Mike Rowe, was fed up with CNN’s mockery of democracy. And he blasted the liberal network for gaming the system to benefit the Democrat candidate. He bestowed on the debate this one withering title.
From Daily Caller:
“It’s just, this thing has been reduced on all sides — especially on the media’s side — to a kind of, uh, kabuki, you know?” Rowe said. “I don’t even know what to watch when I look at a debate like this because all of it reeks of preparation, performance, and a moment. It just, it’s drenched with it.” …“…We don’t trust anybody in front of the camera anywhere close to the degree that we used to,” Rowe said.
Rowe blasted the apparent hypocrisy and dishonesty of the modern media. Citing the debate, he claimed that everything is rehearsed beforehand, to the point where nothing can be trusted. Biden had to be prepped for days at Camp David for the debate.
Why? Can’t he stand on his own for a few hours? Obviously not. Anyone paying attention for years knows that Biden is unable to think for himself. Rowe seems to believe the debate was just another carefully crafted show.
Most Americans probably agree.
Key Takeaways:
- CNN carefully controlled the first presidential debate with strict rules.
- Other networks and journalists were outraged that they could have representatives at the event.
- TV icon Mike Rowe blasted CNN, calling the entire event “kabuki” theater.
