Last week, the police in Denver released bodycam footage capturing the moment officers forcefully entered the rear entrance of a 7-11 store and shot a suspect who was holding a store clerk hostage with a nail-pulling tool.

The incident took place after Christopher Cauch, 43, barricaded himself and two others in the store on March 1, as reported by the New York Post.

Chief Ron Thomas stated that four courageous officers responded to a call about a stabbing and robbery at the convenience store, where the store clerks were found in distress in a back room.

The staffers directed the four cops to the backroom. Bodycam footage reveals the police using a battering ram to force open the reinforced door.

Upon entry, they witnessed the suspect threatening an employee with a 6-inch metal nail-pulling shaft. Despite orders to drop his weapon, Cauch continued to defy, prompting the police to unleash a barrage of bullets at close range.

Chief Thomas informed the Denver Post that officers fired their weapons upon realizing that the clerk was in imminent danger.

Cauch succumbed to his gunshot injuries at a nearby hospital, as reported by the New York Post. Despite the intense gunfire, the hostages managed to flee unharmed.

Denver Police Commander Matt Clark revealed to KUSA-TV that the officers discharged 36 rounds in a mere five seconds at the suspect.

Following the incident, the four officers who intervened were placed on modified duty status pending further investigation, as per local reports.
